Sue J. Kim, Ph.D.

Sue J. Kim, Ph.D., is Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She was founding Co-Director of the Center for Asian American Studies, and serves as Project Director of the Southeast Asian Digital Archive (SEADA), a vital initiative that documents and preserves the histories of Southeast Asian communities in Greater Lowell.

A scholar and advocate, Sue holds a BA from Dartmouth College and a PhD in English from Cornell University. Her research and publications span narrative theory and Asian American literature, reflecting her commitment to inclusive storytelling and critical inquiry.

Originally from Maryland, Sue has made Lowell her home and has served on several local and national boards, including the Association for Asian American Studies and the Lowell TeleMedia Center. Through her leadership, scholarship, and community engagement, Sue works to advance cultural preservation, equity in education, and meaningful civic dialogue.
